Hi everyone,
Welcome to the 2000+ new readers that joined this past week! We are now a community of 6k+ readers. Thank you for reading my emails. It really makes me happy when you actually find these helpful.
I have always been a big fan of Nassim Taleb’s books such as Fooled by Randomness & Antifragile. If you haven’t read any of his books, consider reading them. They are easy to read & also intellectually stimulating.
Recently, I found this Twitter post written by Nassim which talks about TRUE WEALTH. I thought it was really interesting, remarkably accurate many might say, & thus I thought I would share. Here is the list of things that Nassim defines as TRUE WEALTH:
Worriless sleeping
Clear conscience
Reciprocal gratitude
Absence of envy
Muscle strength
Frequent laughs
No meals alone
No gym classes
Good digestive functions
No meeting rooms
Periodic surprises
I don’t really know what he meant by no gym classes. Maybe that being able to work out by yourself is good enough & classes waste your time?
I have excluded the last 4 (foamy coffee, crusty bread, ability to nap, & access to a hammock) because they seemed too personalized for him. I might be wrong. I imagine the list isn’t exhaustive & nor does it apply to everyone. You can probably add a few of your good ones to it. And that act may be really helpful.
The point of my sharing the list is that it did help me reflect on things in my life that I genuinely appreciate and that I may haven’t been prioritizing lately. It also helped me think about how much money I really need to be able to afford most of them in peace. I hope the list invokes similar thoughts for you.
Stay introspective,
Seeam
